Bioeconomy Becomes a Foundational Element of Technological Sovereignty
First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov announced that Russia’s Bioeconomy Development Strategy is set to be approved as early as 2026.
"The development of critical components is also being carried out through the measures of the 'Bioeconomy' National Project. This year, we will approve the development strategy for this sector, which is already becoming one of the foundational elements of technological sovereignty," Manturov stated.
The new national project is comprehensive in nature. "Bioeconomy" will establish the foundation for several sectors simultaneously: chemistry, the food industry, energy, medicine, ecology, and agriculture. The key objective of the national project is to consolidate efforts, capacities, and resources to create competitive enterprises, including through the modernization of existing production facilities.
The development of the bioeconomy sector concept through 2050 is being conducted with the participation of the Kurchatov Institute. Earlier, the head of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov, noted that the document will set a long-term development vector for the industry.
