BIOPROM – A step forward for Humanity. Results of the 2025 Forum Summed Up in Gelendzhik

The international forum “BIOPROM: Industry and Technology for Humans” has concluded its work in Gelendzhik. The main annual event dedicated to improving the quality of human life through the development of technologies in medicine, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, the food industry, agriculture, and ecology brought together representatives of government authorities, business, and the scientific community for the second time. BIOPROM took place from October 6 to 7 at the multifunctional cultural and business center “Gelendzhik Arena.” In his welcoming address to participants, organizers, and guests of BIOPROM, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized the importance of the biotechnology sector for the country’s economy.

Over the two days of the forum, it was attended by more than 3,500 participants from Russia, Belarus, China, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, as well as India and Pakistan, who presented their national exhibitions within the framework of the exposition.
“BIOPROM turned out to be a genuine platform for peace and unity. I think we are a rare exhibition where the stands of India and Pakistan stand side by side,” noted Anton Atrashkin, BIOPROM’s program director.

On the 7,000-square-meter exhibition floor, more than 100 companies showcased their cutting-edge technologies. Among them were EFKO, Magnit, Pharmasintez, Arnest, SIBUR, Rostec, and the Skolkovo Foundation. Some of the developments presented at the exhibition have already entered production, while others have completed testing or reached the prototype stage.

A key event of the forum was the main strategic session “Technologies for Life.” The discussion focused on the prospects for developing the bioeconomy sector and implementing the new national project. Particular attention was given to stimulating the development of specialized infrastructure, promoting innovative products and technologies in medicine, pharmacology, the food industry, and the agricultural sector. The session was attended by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov, Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko, Minister of Agriculture Oksana Luth, Presidential Aide Andrey Fursenko, as well as heads of major domestic and foreign corporations, including General Director of the Chinese company Hualan Genetic Engineering An Wenqi, General Director of GEROFARM Petr Rodionov, and Dr. Aparna Sharma, Chief Manager, Technical, Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), Government of India.

In total, the business program featured more than 40 thematic sessions across four main tracks of the forum:

  • BIOTECHMED: innovative technologies in medicine and pharmaceuticals;
  • INNOFOOD: advanced developments in the food industry and agriculture;
  • COSMETIC COMPONENT: new sources of raw materials and formulations in cosmetics and perfumery;
  • ECOBIO: waste processing and “green” practices.

A number of strategically important agreements were also signed on the sidelines of BIOPROM. Among them was a cooperation agreement signed by Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov, Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Veniamin Kondratyev, and General Director of Formika Event (the BIOPROM organizer) Ekaterina Egorycheva. The parties agreed to promote the expansion of Russian and international participation in BIOPROM by attracting new manufacturing companies in the fields of biotechnology, chemical, pharmaceutical, and medical industries, agricultural machinery, smart farming, the food industry, natural innovative cosmetics, waste recycling, bio-based raw materials, and ecology within the context of human habitat.

“BIOPROM is now officially becoming an annual event — for us as organizers, this is of tremendous importance. It means that the topics raised by BIOPROM are truly relevant, both on a national and, I would even say, a global level. Biotechnology is no longer the future. It is something that must be developed in the present so that every person’s life improves and the state takes a leading position in the world,” emphasized Ekaterina Egorycheva.

A strategic partnership agreement aimed at developing promising projects in the field of pharmaceuticals was also signed between Gazprombank and Alpharma. RT-MedTech and the A.N. Bakulev National Medical Research Center of Cardiovascular Surgery signed an agreement to cooperate in improving the accessibility and quality of medical care for the population. In turn, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals and Lomonosov Moscow State University agreed to cooperate in order to help graduates of the university’s Engineering School develop competencies necessary for successful professional activity. A major international agreement was also signed between Pharmsintez and Hualan Genetic Engineering to jointly develop the market for the production and processing of polymers used in the manufacture of hemodialyzers in the Russian Federation.

The extensive forum program and growing participation confirmed BIOPROM’s status as a leading platform in the biotechnology industry, contributing to strengthening this sector’s role in the national economy, achieving technological independence, and enhancing Russia’s position in the global market.
