The International BIOTECHMED Forum provides a platform for experts to discuss the national strategy for tackling obesity.

Obesity is recognized as one of the most critical concerns for global health and economic well-being, affecting more than 1 billion people, including children and adolescents. The Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Murashko, has reported that approximately 40 million Russians suffer from obesity. Further, this condition can cause a range of significant health risks, including type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and others. These factors pose a risk to the realization of national healthcare objectives.

The session is designed to act as a milestone in developing a strategy to combat obesity, emphasizing the considerable effects of the issue on both the healthcare system and the economy of the country. The discussion will focus on key aspects of preventing and diagnosing the condition, as well as expanding access to medical care, including drug therapies against obesity.

The event features highly qualified experts in the field, including Sergei Glagolev, the Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, Ekaterina Priezzheva, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and other top experts in the pharmaceutical industry. The session will be moderated by Inna Svyatenko, the Chairwoman of the Federation Council.
