Russia’s First Officially Certified Vegan Alcohol Hits the Market

Bashspirtprom has become the first company to receive the "Roskachestvo — Vegan" certificate. The certification process confirmed that the production of alcohol, balsams, and vinegar completely excludes components of animal origin—down to the molecular level.

In many traditional alcohol production technologies, particularly during purification and stabilization, fining agents such as casein, egg white, chitin, and other animal-derived ingredients may be used. In vegan-certified production, these are replaced by mineral and plant-based alternatives, including bentonite, various clays, and activated charcoal.

The certification requirements cover the entire manufacturing cycle: from raw materials and filtration to packaging and even auxiliary materials. Following the audit, the producer has been granted the right to use the official vegan mark on its products.

This marks the first instance in Russia where "vegan alcohol" status is confirmed by an official standard and a rigorous third-party audit rather than a simple self-declaration.
